Blast From the Past- Easy Money Open 1990
What a treasure to find. Here is an article from Bull's -Eye News on the Easy Money Open results from 1990.
Our very own Dave Kapusitk was the open 501 winner out of 260 entries.
He also competed in the Intercity Challenge with 90 teams, along with Cleveland members, Dave Garmon, Mario Boskovic, and John Fetchet. The strong Cleveland darters went against Columbus Ohio's team to come out on top.
More placings by our darters, Mario Boskovic also was top 8 in 501 and Dave Garmon and John Fetchet were top 32. Garmon and Fetchet were also top 4 in doubles 501.
Thank you, Gary Schmidt, for sharing this wonderful piece of history. It’s a reminder that each darter can be a major part of someone's dart path, like how these players left a lasting mark with their teaching and encouragement to Gary Schmidt. Not wanting to miss out, the next year in 1991, Schmidt attended the Easy Money Open.
That’s what makes the history of this game so special: the knowledge, friendships, and love of darts are passed from one generation of players to the next. Then there is Dave Kapustic, who is still involved in our Cleveland Darter Club community and didn't let this victory against Columbus end in 1990 at the Easy Money open. He will be focused on taking them down in December at the Quad City Challenge, along with Gary Schmidt and the future generations of our club.
