April Fools' Historic Tournament 2026

Updated: Apr 5

What an exciting tournament yesterday! The much-anticipated annual DIDO 301- double elimination event did not disappoint. (See the Tournament/April Fools' tab on the website for more history on the event.)

A big thank you to Rookies Bar & Grill for hosting and generously adding $5 for every player who entered. We also appreciate the Cleveland Darter Club for contributing additional funds to the prize pot.

The ladies kicked things off at 1 PM, featuring a strong lineup that included past April Fools’ tournament champions. We were honored to see some seasoned old school darters return to the board, including Jennifer Weiss, back-to-back champion in 2018–2019, and Kathleen Mazur, champion in 2002 and 2023. New school Champion of 2024 Victoria Sulecki was also in attendance, ready to earn the title once again.

Alongside these familiar names, we welcomed several new faces eager to make their mark and get their names engraved in tournament history.

Gretchen Weidus battled her way into the queen seat, waiting to see who could challenge her impressive run. Victoria Sulecki, determined to redeem herself and defend her 2024 title, fought her way back through the lower bracket with her sights set on Weidus pushing past third place Melissa Hess and fourth place Jenn Malek.

With plenty of history between them, the matchup quickly shifted from friendly competition to a fierce battle. Victoria wanting revenge from some past loses against Gretchen and Gretchen wanting to join Victoria's name engraved on the historic trophy.

Victoria came out strong, finding her doubles early while Gretchen took longer to settle in during the first leg. Victoria secured the opening leg, then edged out a much closer second leg—handing Gretchen her first loss of the day.

The next match started with Victoria taking the opening leg and igniting a response from Gretchen. Coming back focused and determined, Gretchen got in quickly on the next two legs, putting up strong numbers and working her way confidently toward her winning doubles.

The men’s tournament saw an incredible turnout, with an intense level of talent filling the room from start to finish.

The field was stacked with past champions and seasoned competitors, including Luke Kollias (2011, 2014) the husband of five time champion Rhonda, Ray Skrovan (2002, 2003, 2005, 2013), Dave Kapustik (2013, 2014), Danny Russano (2018, 2023, 2025), and Kevin Yasenchak (2019). Vince Walker, 2024 champion returned to the board, continuing a family legacy by following in the footsteps of his uncle, Keith Walker champion in 1981. Johnny “X” Krecek 2012 champion couldn't miss this event and showed up to cheer on friends.

With so many accomplished players and champions, every match brought high-level darts, intense competition, and plenty of excitement for everyone in attendance.

It came down to Dave Kapustik (2013,2014), Kevin Yasenchak (2019) Tony Massimiani and Johnny Kozlowski for the top four.

In the men’s final, two top competitors—Dave Kapustik and Kevin Yasenchak—went head-to-head in an exciting showdown. Kapustik proudly wore an iconic Harbor Inn shirt, representing the founding bar of this great tournament, which dates all the way back to 1974—a nod to the rich history and tradition behind the event.

With both players performing at an elite level, the match moved quickly as each found their rhythm. Doubles proved no obstacle in this high-caliber matchup, with both competitors showing precision and confidence at the board.

In the end, Dave Kapustik captured the win, earning his third title and securing his name once again on the historic trophy.
