Cleveland Darter Club was well represented at the Syracuse Open! From singles events to doubles to triples, our members proved once again that we are competitors not to be taken lightly.
Syracuse Open has the top players from North America attending. Several North American women who competed in the WDF Lakeside World Darts Championships, including Maria Carli, Paula Murphy, Aaja Jalbert, Cali West and Tracy Feiertag. In attendance on the men's side included CDC tour card holders, World Champions and top ranked ADO and WDF darters, which included Joey Lynaugh, Larry Butler, Alex Spellman, Doug Boehm, Gino Florian, Mike Porterfield, John Part, Leonard Gates, Michael Nguyen, and Kevin Luke to name a few.
Starting off strong on Friday, was Kevin Yasenchak, who captured the Pro 401 DIDO title, winning the finals with two impressive 15-dart legs. Kevin also advanced to the Quarterfinals in Singles Cricket, defeating 3-time World Champion John Part before falling to U.S. Darts Masters participant Doug Boehm.
Kevin teamed up with Danny Russano and Marlise Kiel to finish Top 16 in Mixed Triples, and Kevin and Marlise also reached Top 32 in Mixed Doubles.
In Doubles 501, Danny Russano and Kevin Yasenchak made an impressive run to the Semi-Finals, defeating the number one and number two 2025 ranked ADO players Aaron Jalbert and Kevin Luke along the way. The duo also reached the Quarterfinals in Doubles Cricket.
Danny Russano and Jenn Malek advanced to the Top 32 in Mixed Doubles, as did the team of Gretchen Weidus and Tony Rook. A highlight of the event was Rook and Weidus defeating 3-time World Champion John Part and his partner. Gretchen also placed top 32 in singles cricket.
Tony Rook also made a strong run to the Top 16 in Blind Draw and Top 32 in Doubles with Ray Skrovan.
Ray Skrovan and Victoria Sulecki had an outstanding tournament, reaching the Quarterfinals in Mixed Doubles. Ray also made a deep run in Singles Cricket before being edged out by Jayson Barlow in a deciding leg with both averaging over 3 marks a turn.
Three Cleveland members battled in the Quarterfinals of Doubles Cricket, as Jenn Malek and Victoria Sulecki faced fellow Cleveland member Marlise Kiel and her partner Trish Grzesik. Jenn and Victoria also reached Top 16 in 501 Doubles, falling again to Marlise and Trish. Victoria was on top of the leaderboard being the 7th highest three dart average using all '01 event in the weekend, out of 89 women darters.
Marlise Kiel added to the club’s success with a Quarterfinal finish in 501 Singles, Semi-Finals in Doubles Cricket, Top 16 in 501 Doubles, and Top 16 in Singles Cricket.
Cleveland Darter Club members had a great showing against some very stiff competition. They had some deep bracket runs and represented our city with pride.
